WHAT IS PEGBOARD PRESS?

Pegboard Press is a small community-based printmaking studio based out of Hampton, South Carolina located behind the Stanley Arts Center. Pegboard Press was founded by professional artist and educator Ian J. Welch in 2017 and was originally located on the second floor of Gathered Glassblowing Studio in Toledo, OH. Upon relocating for work in 2021, Welch had the opportunity to house Pegboard Press in a renovated studio space in collaboration with Hampton Friends of the Arts, Inc.

Pegboard Press houses two historic printing presses set up to accommodate intaglio, relief, monoprint and stone lithography methods. Additionally, Pegboard Press recently began offering silkscreen services as for special run artist editions and posters.

Printmaking has always been a communal practice, and Pegboard Press hopes to honor the tradition of printmaking studios serving as an accessible form of community activism through art. We offer affordable classes and workshops, along with charging fair press time for working artists looking to explore the printmaking medium.
